Job Title: Product Development Analyst

Department: New Product Development / Engineering - Atlanta

Reports to: Product Development Director      


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies PMA projects and develops the business case for internal project approval.
  • Key contact for the gathering of primary market data parts usage, competitive pricing, and customer information. Manage the secondary sources of market, part, and aircraft information such as ILS, Partsbase, ACAS, WAD, PMA Partsfinder, etc. 
  • Updates and maintains the database that houses all of the pertinent market, parts, fleet, and customer data. Manage the new information coming into the database as well as update old market, customer, fleet, and competitive information.  
  • Oversee the maintaining of the technical library of component and airframe maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and illustrated parts catalogs.
  • Conduct Product Evaluation Review Meetings with top-level management to determine project "Go/No-Go" decisions.
  • Receive various requests to evaluate development opportunities or to provide lists of current projects in process or current parts.
  • Determine market potential and sales opportunities for individual aerospace parts by analyzing usage data, aircraft fleet data and trends, airline and overhaul shop maintenance capabilities and procedures, failure mode analysis, competition, current pricing strategies, and aircraft/engine/component technical publications.
  • Update the Microsoft Access Product Development Database as new customers, applications, usage, pricing, or other data becomes available.
  • Assist with existing PMA development relationships with assigned key account Airline. Individual uses this interaction to assist PMA Sales Engineer in prospecting of new projects for product development. In addition maintains relationships for potential research, OEM sample borrowing, and engineering visits for on site measurements.

  • Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Access and be proficient at learning general office software and mainframe systems.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
