Job Title: VP Product Line Management

Department: PMA & Distribution

Reports to: EVP Product Managment

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Acts as primary mentor to support both the personal development of product line leaders (PLLs) as well as their underlying businesses. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Defines overarching product life-cycle management strategy and helps PLLs with implementation for their businesses.
  • Oversees development of product line plans and coordinates alignment with overall Wencor annual operating plans.
  • Establishes product action committees for each PLL and acts as leader for the overarching board of directors to set policy, breakdown barriers to success and resolve potential PLL conflicts in the best interest of Wencor.
  • Identifies partnership opportunities in support of product strategies such as JVs and supply partnerships.
  • Sets the obsolescence strategy for the overall product portfolio and helps translate the strategy into specific product line implementations.
  • Ensures integrated product strategies drive top/bottom line growth and trains/assists PLLs in rigorously managing income statements by product line.
  • Leads PLLs and Product Development VP in prioritization of product opportunities and associated engineering investment.
  • Cultivates the M&A pipeline by establishing a robust ideation MOS with PLLs in collaboration with the executive leadership team (ELT)
  • Helps to identify, evaluate and where appropriate drive organic or inorganic adjacency growth.
  • Applies strategy and product management expertise to due diligence efforts.
  • Partners with M&A leaders to detect and manage product demise curves.
  • Develop and fund product/technology roadmaps based on emerging customer needs.
  • Shared responsibility with Share Services Director for bid and proposal priority setting.
  • Train PLLs to develop world-class value-propositions, inclusive of value walks and associated collateral, in conjunction with VP Business Development and Business Development Managers for use by both sales and MARCOM.
  • Collaborate with Pricing and Analytics Manager to make price a strategic lever via pricing polies, discipline and guidelines, including minimum product margin rates and pricing.
  • Responsible for being involved in a collaborative approach with VP Business Development and VP Product Development to help determine the overall direction of PMA development platforms and supply partnership as well as defining target markets.

 Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Must have previous sales experience. Must have solid understanding of the aviation industry.  Proficient in negotiation skills.  Able to make presentations to large groups at the highest organizational level.  Must possess a history of successful airline customer management with a demonstrated ability to drive growth even with difficult customers and/or down markets.

 Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related degree with a minimum of 10 years of related aerospace experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
