The Quality Engineer will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate the process of Customer Complaints and Returns ensuring that product is evaluated and corrective actions are submitted to the customer in a timely fashion.
  • Provide support in monitoring the performance levels of the supplier base and reporting performance indicators on a timely basis and to track responses to nonconformances and corrective actions to ensure timely release of results.
  • Assist in conducting internal quality audits of quality management functions, processes, and procedures over which possibly the Quality Engineer has no direct control or responsibility.
  • Provide support of the documented processes for determining Distribution and FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) product compliance from design to through production inspection. 
  • Conduct acceptance inspection of products using visual standards, handheld measuring instruments, optical comparators, and digital measurement equipment. 
  • This includes, but is not limited to, the support of work flow management of all PMA inbound product, the ongoing technical training of all PMA and Distribution technical inspectors, serve as a support QA liaison to Engineering regarding design review approvals, product conformities, and assist in the preperation and review of submitted production packages in order to approve supplier processes within the Variation Reduction Process.
  • Participate in SOP revisions as needed to support continuous improvement.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, business periodicals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Must be proficient in the understanding of complex geometric dimensions and tolerances and have the ability to evaluate and interpret complex specifications and blueprints. Must be able to effectively communicate any problems they encounter with upper management, suppliers, and customers. 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, commissions, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply statistical tools such as standard deviation, chi-square tests, distribution analysis, advanced algebra, and geometry. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent inter-personal skills, a high degree of organizational and problem solving skills, ability to think and work independently, a basic understanding of lean and Six Sigma performance measurements and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Ability to process map, create and modify procedures, instructions and training documents. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access. 

Physical Demands: Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, lift up to 25 lbs., work near moving mechanical parts in an environment with moderate noise levels. 

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in the Sciences, business, or other technical fields or five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in Quality Assurance is required.
