Job Title: Director, Distribution Value Added Services [W]

Department: Distribution Operations

Reports to: EVP, Operations, Quality, and Safety

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and develops distribution value added services to meet/align with customer needs.
  • Manages all aspects of Vendor Managed Inventory development and implementation.
  • Demonstrates, teaches and mentors Lean thinking and execution
  • Ensures the customer based warehouse support teams are responsive and meeting the intended performance goals.
  • Investigates Customer Complaint and Return (CCR) issues to ensure root cause analysis of customer complaints is performed.
  • Develops staffing projections to meet operations requirements, assists with recruiting and hiring decisions. 
  • Identifies and attracts distribution talent to manage remote, customer based warehousing needs.
  • Ensures that order fulfillment activities are timely and completed in accordance with established quality standards and procedures.
  • Determines work schedules and assigns areas of responsibilities to warehouse personnel to optimize workflow and ensure effective fulfillment of internal and external customer orders. 
  • Determines optimum logistics for each value added opportunity including inventory needs, supply chain, lead times, performance metrics, etc...
  • Provides direction and guidance to warehouse personnel on policies and procedures (mentors and coaches subordinate team leads and supervisors).
  • Administers employee training and safety programs.
  • Plans, develops, and implements training activities and standardizes methods throughout the department to optimize productivity and reduce cycle time, quality defects, and overall costs.
  • Communicates with related departments to maintain effective product flow and to make necessary changes.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of distribution value added service activities and prepares management reports.
  • Ensures safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Responsible to schedule closing and opening of facilities as needed including coverage for after-hours A.O.G.'s.
  • Conducts personnel performance reviews.
  • Other duties as necessary and assigned.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as gross margin, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume and conversions between American and metric systems of measurement.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other software as applicable. 
  • Must have the ability to administer, communicate, and work cooperatively.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree and 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  MBA is a plus.
